V-FACE is an advanced FACIAL RECOGNITION SOLUTION that uses biometric technology to support lawful identification, verification and crime prevention activities, in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and applicable South African regulations.

The system is deployed for client verification and security related risk management purposes only, where a clear lawful basis exists, such as legitimate interest, contractual necessity, or informed consent, depending on the specific use case.

V-FACE utilises a globally recognised facial recognition algorithm developed by an internationally established ICT provider. Similar technologies are used by regulated organisations worldwide, including financial institutions and law enforcement environments, to assist with identity verification and fraud prevention.

The solution performs real time facial matching against a lawfully maintained and access controlled criminal suspect database, consisting of verified records linked to confirmed criminal activity. Matches are securely relayed to our Real Time Crime Centre (RTCC) for further human review and decision making.

The suspect database is continually updated based on verified incidents and lawful data sharing arrangements. Any future integrations with additional industry related databases will be subject to data sharing agreements, purpose limitation, and POPIA compliance assessments.
